Zhang Weili thinks it is strange that her former opponent was willing to lend a helping hand to her upcoming opponent.

The long-awaited and very highly anticipated rematch between Zhang and Joanna Jedrzejczyk goes down in less than two weeks. In a recent interview, Zhang blasted Rose Namajunas for offering to train with Jedrzejczyk ahead of their rematch.

Zhang bashes Rose

“Well, if I’m Rose, I would not do something like this because Joanna has her own team. ATT is a very professional, elite team. They produced many champions,” Zhang said. “And you go interfere at this point that’s a little bit… I don’t know what she’s trying to do. Does she think Joanna’s team is not good enough or what? I don’t know. I definitely would not do that in her shoes.”

Zhang has a history with Namajunas, fighting her twice back-to-back in 2021. Namajuanas‘ won the belt back from the Chinese fighter at UFC 261 when she knocked her out in the first round. They would rematch at UFC 268, and Namajunas’ would win a very close split decision.

History

All of this came from an interview that Namajunas did on The MMA Hour. She offered to fly to Florida to help her old rival ‘Joanna Violence.’

“I didn’t totally make that decision in my mind yet but I was just thinking about it,” Namajunas said. “Nothing personal against Weili or anything but you know Henry Cejudo was kind of talking some crap before our rematch. I’m just kidding.”

Jedrzejczyk was open to having Namajuanas’ help, but no one knows if it actually happened. More will be revealed.

The rematch between Jedrzejczyk and Zhang goes down at UFC 75 on June 11 in Singapore. The Chinese former champ says the fight will be exciting.

“I think this rematch will be entertaining for sure. Because this rematch will determine the title shot. And of course, we both want the title shot. So, we will leave it all in the cage for this fight.”
