As of this writing, the Mayweather/Maidana fight is off. With ‘*** no,’ and a shake of the jowels, Floyd Mayweather has dismissed a huge payday ($32 million at the bare minimum, likely $50 mil) to preserve the sanctity of his promotion at first, but now things have taken a turn for the weird.
After the initial uproar over the gloves,Marcos Maidana brought in a pair of gloves that were deemed unfit to fight in by the Nevada State Athletic Commission. Then, he finally went down the line and got a pair of Kosher gloves that the Commission approved of – stock Everlast MX gloves. However, Floyd is trying to get Maidana in Grants, gloves that he wears and have a bit more padding in them. Supposedly, he won’t fight unless that happens.
What started as being fishy has kind of turned on Floyd. If he pulls out, it’s on him. But then, he has the most to lose.

You have to admit, this fight wasn’t getting that much press relative to other Floyd fights, so this is some brilliant marketing.
