WATCH: Shocking Rose Namajunas KO’s “Greatest Women’s MMA Fighter Ever” Joanna Jedrzejczyk

At UFC 217, women’s strawweight title fight between Joanna Jedrzejczyk and Rose Namajunas took place.

After her last title defense – a unanimous decision over Jessica Andrade – Jędrzejczyk told UFC President Dana White that she wanted to try and tie Ronda Rousey’s record of six title defenses in the city that never sleeps.

“I’m very happy that Dana agreed with me, and here we go,” she said during a pre-fight press conference. “I want to tie Ronda Rousey’s record of six title defences [for a woman] and become the first female fighter with seven title fights. It’s a big deal.”

Joanna Jedrzejczyk got KO by Rose Namajunas in the first round of their title fight.

Namajunas came out striking with the strawweight champ and dropped her early in the opening round. Rose grab her with a right hand and tap her to the floor. Rose jumps on Joanna and forces her to tap out to strikes! WOW!

Thug Rose (7-3 MMA, 5-2 UFC), however, pulled off the massive upset at UFC 217. Joanna (14-1 MMA, 8-1 UFC) was confident and taunting right up until the opening bell. Joanna refused the glove tap, and Thug Rose pushed her away.
