Wanderlei Silva isn’t giving Chael Sonnen even the slightest chance of defeating Bones Jones at the end of April after their coaching stints are fulfilled on TUF, but imagine what the light heavyweight division would look like if Bones wasn’t given an immediate rematch. Chael beats Bones, winner of Lyoto/Hendo fights Chael (don’t make me choose between Lyoto and Hendo, please), Chael fights one of them, Gegard Mousasi is in the back listening to techno and then Bones fights Gustaffson for number one contender. That’s almost too improbable even for a hypothetical opening paragraph. The odds of Chael having a run atop the light heavyweight division is as probable as successfully navigating an asteroid field.
Wand knows.
This is why he says Chael will be ‘swallowed up’ by Jonathan Jones, then he reminds us that the only man who can defeat Bones goes by the name of Anderson.
“Whatever the boss [UFC President Dana White] says, I sign underneath. If he thinks this fight is fair, then I think he’s absolutely right,” Silva said, laughing. “It was a fight I wanted to see… Jones will swallow Sonnen. I spoke with Jones and told him that he can win the fight only with jabs, with one hand tied behind his back. The only person who can beat Jones today is Anderson.”
“Jones talked to me about Anderson, but I cannot say what, obviously.”
Tell us, Wand, tell us about what you and Bones talked about!
