Emiliano Sordi Stopped Vinny Magalhaes, Dan Miragliotta Waved Off The Contest In The Second Round!

PFL 3: 2019 Regular Season took place last night (Thursday, June 6, 2019), from inside Nassau Veterans Memorial Coliseum, Uniondale, New York. The prelims streamed on ESPN2 following main card on ESPN+.

The event was headlined by the intriguing Light Heavyweight match between the former jiu-jitsu world champion Vinny “Pezao” Magalhaes  and the owner of the fastest stoppage of the 2018 season, dangerous striker from Argentina, Emiliano “He-Man” Sordi. The referee was Dan Miragliotta.

Fighters touched gloves. Emiliano Sordi was very cautious at the beginning of the match and neutralized Vinny’s kick attempts well.

Emiliano Sordi rocked Magalhaes with a brutal 1-2, but he didn’t want to continue the fight on the ground.

Rocked Magalhaes stood up and clinched up with his rival, pressed the Argentinian against the cage, and slammed him hard. But Sordi somehow slipped out and got up.

Sordi ate a middle kick but grabbed the opponent’s leg. After a few dangerous punches, Magalhaes took his rival down again, but Sordi rolled and got up.

Emiliano pressed his opponent against the cage again and delivered 8-10 very brutal punches, the Brazilian looked helpless, he was missing over and over. Magalhaes’ face was covered in blood. Vinny missed with a high kick, Sordi continued attacking but Vinny stopped him with a big right hand.

Sordi kept attacking with left-right until the end of the first round. Magalhaes went for a Superman punch but Sordi blocked it well and delivered a flying knee to end round one. 10-9 Sordi. 

Magalhaes missed with a front kick to the head early on in the second, and again tried to take his opponent down after an unsuccessful Superman punch attempt, but Sordi escaped well.

After an amazing low kick exchange, Emiliano Sordi delivered some big shots and knocked his opponent down, but he didn’t want to rain shots on the ground, and the Brazilian had to stand up.

Vinny ate a big shot and went down, but Dan Miragliotta ordered him to get up. Magalhaes  went for a takedown but it was stuffed by Sordi.

Sordi continued raining big strikes, but Miragliotta stopped the fight. Magalhaes was eating shots over and over, good decision by the referee.

Sordi was awarded five points in the standings for his stoppage victory.

Emiliano Sordi improved his MMA score to 18-8, while Vinny Magalhaes dropped to 18-11.
