Tito Ortiz vs Alberto Del Rio Official For Combates Americas

The date for the Combates Americas debut of Tito Ortiz is official. He will be taking on Alberto Del Rio in December on PPV.

When it was announced that Ortiz would be signing to Combates Americas, there were questions about who he would fight. However, those questions were quickly answered when he came face to face with Alberto Del Rio to announce the two would be fighting. The initial exchange between the two was cringey to say the least, but it was worth a watch.

Following their exchange, the only question remaining was when the bout would take place. Now the fight has a date and location, according to an announcement made on Ariel Helwani’s MMA Show. It appears that Tito Ortiz will fight Alberto Del Rio (competing under the name Alberto El Patron) on December 7th, in Hidalgo, Texas. Additionally, it will be a $39.99 PPV event.

Ortiz is on a two fight winning streak, with his last victory coming against Chuck Liddell, in the lone Golden Boy MMA event. His previous bouts before that, took place under the Bellator banner. The final of which was a submission victory over Chael Sonnen.

On the other hand, Del Rio has not fought since a TKO loss to Yamamoto Hanshi in 2010. His primary career has been in the world of professional wrestling. Although he did fight Mirko Cro Cop in Pride. Since then, he has become a figurehead of the Combates Americas promotion, and is now looking to make his return to combat.

No further information is available as of yet about the rest of the card. However, it is more than likely that Tito Ortiz vs Alberto Del Rio will be the main event.
