I woke up this morning thinking about what a great fight Thiago Alves vs. Jon Fitch would be. Jon Fitch spent months in Thailand to perfect his striking for a dude who packs more plutonium in his punches than all of North Korea’s underground nuclear research facilities. We don’t know how much radioactive material that is, but it’s probably enough to mess with your bodily functions and ultimately your life if you ever come in contact with it. It was finally about to go down at UFC 111, and it was the fight I was anticipating most as both of these guys put on an exciting show every time you lock them in a cage with an opponent to dismantle.
Instead of definitively determining the welterweight division’s next top contender for the winner of GSP/Hardy, Kevin Iole is reporting that Thiago failed his CAT scan, and has been pulled from the UFC 111 card. TMZ is now also reporting that Thiago Alves has a brain irregularity which could potentially be career ending.
Update: Ben Saunders has stepped up to be Jon Fitch’s opponent.
