The Sunday Morning Rumor Mill, Bjorn Rebney’s favorite weekly piece anywhere on the internet. A lot of people claim that Rebney is using his seemingly fabricated beef with MiddleEasy to ‘stay relevant’ in the media. If this is true, so be it. Get your name out there, fabricate disdain for a site that has three of your fighters in our ‘official Frate Trane Status List’ (which is the most legit rankings list anywhere in the MMA world, by the way). Do whatever you need to do let us see another season of Bellator, I’ll take one for the team. I will be your proverbial wing-man, just put on Eddie Alvarez vs. Gilbert Melendez and everything will be alright. Also, I don’t operate MiddleEasy from my parent’s basement, Bjorn. It’s my grandmother’s basement, dork.
- Heard this from a current ZUFFA employee, although he/she wanted it to be clear that the following rumor is not definite, but will ‘most likely’ happen in 2011. The production crew of WEC will be used for ‘Fight Night’ and ‘Versus’ cards, whereas the current production crew for UFC will be used for all other events. Not sure if this will determine if the commentating/ring announcing crew for WEC will remain intact.
- Jessica Aguilar will make her boxing debut vs. WIBA champion, Eileen Olszewski, on December 17th in Miami, Florida.
- Alan Belcher wants to make his return to the octagon in March 2011, but medical officials with ZUFFA still have some concern over his retina.
- Heard this from a very reliable source, however I had some apprehension placing this on the Sunday Morning Rumor Mill. Of course, ‘had’ is the keyword here. Last night, I heard the same thing from another party which gives more credibility to this rumor. M-1 Global is talking to the UFC. Apparently they have been for the better part of November and the tail end of October. Fedor has been a topic of discussion, however M-1 Global has been attempting to get some of their lesser named M-1 fighters, specifically ‘M-1 Challengers’ winners, a shot at the UFC.
- The more bizarre aspect of the rumor mentioned above is that Dana White is allegedly using these talks with M-1 Global in order to further delay Fedor Emelianenko from fighting for Strikeforce or DREAM.
- Andre Galvao will be on the next season of The Ultimate Fighter.
- In 2011, Strikeforce will use/mention that Cain Velasquez’s first professional MMA fight was under the Strikeforce banner.
- Dana White pulled an ‘all-nighter’ in Germany just to watch Pacquiao vs Margarito in its entirety.
- A southern Florida music production house is seeking monetary compensation for ZUFFA using one of their songs in the UFC 121 broadcast.
- Despite Bjorn Rebney insisting that there are ‘no obstacles’ to assemble Eddie Alvarez vs. Gilbert Melendez, there are quite a few that may prevent this superfight from taking place.
- I’m not sure if the news has broke, but there is a really good chance that Omigawa will be signed to the UFC by the end of the year.
