Takanori Gomi says he has a surprise for everyone at UFC on Fuel TV Japan

Bill Gates didn’t make Microsoft Word. Every late 80s rapper did. Some people probably won’t understand that. It’s cool. You will just have to listen to Takanori Gomi’s iPod and read that sentence again. Gomi digs his hip-hop as much as you dig not getting hit in the face in a dark alley. The fact that The Fireball Kid has every Wu album and can quote Ghostface Killah like biblical scripture should elevate him to the top of your favorite fighters list (right next to Wallid Ismail). Still, regardless of Gomi’s underground hip-hop IQ, it still won’t buy him an easy fight against Diego Sanchez at tomorrow’s UFC on Fuel TV in Japan. In an interview with MMAJunkie, Takanori says he actually has a surprise that he plans to debut tomorrow night during the fight.

“I think it’s going to be a good fight,” Gomi said through an interpreter. “I know I should be very prepared, and I actually have a surprise waiting for you for the match. I just came up with it yesterday at practice.”

Gomi declined to give specifics on his surprise. Whether it’s an extravagant walk-in trick, some new technique or perhaps even a flamboyant victory celebration simply remains a mystery for the time being. But fans of “The Fireball Kid” should be on high alert.

Any guy that goes by the ‘Fireball Kid’ is worth jumping up and down and knocking over a few plants in your living room. We’ll be watching the Pride FC lightweight champion as if Nick Diaz never gogoplated it out of him back at Pride 33.
