Sheymon Moraes delivered an epic come-from-behind victory against Marlon Moraes (no relation) at the PFL 2022 World Championship on Friday night.
Emanating from the Hulu Theater in New York City, the two Brazilian warriors closed out the evening’s prelims with a bang. Carrying a four-fight losing streak, Marlon Moraes was clearly up two rounds and entered the third round as a -2500 favorite on the live odds. Then disaster struck.
Less than a minute into the third, Sheymon Moraes blasted his opponent with a massive overhand right that immediately dropped him to the mat. He swarmed in, dropping hammer fists along the way. As Marlon Moraes attempted to get back to his feet, he ate another solid left hand that returned him to the canvas forcing the referee to step in and call for the stoppage 58 seconds into the final round.
With the win, Sheymon Moraes has won four of his last five bouts. As for Marlon Moraes, the loss extends his losing streak to five dating back to October 2020.
