Shaolin Ribeiro signs with Strikeforce! Yes!

For those of you who are not familiar with Shaolin Riberio, in 2007 he was a runner-up in the ‘Best nickname in the history of nicknames’ category of the ‘Who gives an F’ awards (I think Vladimir ‘The Janitor’ Matyushenko won that year. His after-party was at a 24/7 BBQ place). Dude’s last fight was against Shinya Aoki who was sponsored by Where’s Waldo during that Dream 10 match. Shaolin didn’t get the W, but Aoki stood up with the dude (which was really unexpected) and it went to a unanimous decision for the guy to inherit the only pair of magical submission pants from Middle Earth. Even though he wasn’t victorious over Aoki, Shaolin triangled Joachim ‘Hellboy’ Hansen in the second round (which still to this day is probably the most impressive submission win…ever), won a UD over Ishida and triangled Jean Silva. Now you probably know why Aoki wanted to stand up with Shaolin during Dream 10 (if you stayed up that late).

Yesterday (we know we’re a day late but this news is entirely too rawesome to ignore), Strikeforce signed Shaolin to their lightweight division giving Strikeforce another ridunkulous submission artist to add to their roster. Hopefully in the near future someone nicknamed ‘Wu-Tang’ will jump in Strikeforce, cut to 155lbs, and we can reenact that Shaolin vs. Wu-Tang Kung-Fu flick that everyone saw in middle school (which has about 90% of every soundbite Wu-Tang Clan has ever used).
