Sean Strickland revealed he had an awkward in-person interaction with Ian Garry.
Over the past month, Ian Garry has been ridiculed by the MMA community for a negative narrative created about his wife, Layla Machado Garry. The online harassment has primarily come from fans, but a few fighters have also chimed in, including UFC middleweight Sean Strickland.
Garry has responded to Strickland’s comments by threatening to sue him. ‘The Future’ also teased a move up to middleweight to challenge the 185-pound king. Needless to say, the tension was high when the two UFC fighters ran into each other earlier this week.
Strickland described his encounter with Garry at the UFC Performance Institute by saying this in a video posted on Instagram:
“I went to the [UFC Performance Insittue] today, and I ran into the f*cking cu*k Ian Garry. Awkward, man, awkward. He looked at me hard, security had to escort us around, f*cking awkward sh*t. I’m laughing my a*s off. Anyways, Garry, I don’t f*cking hate you, dude.”
Strickland continued:
“I actually like you, I think you’re a f*cking funny little dweeb. You make me f*cking laugh. I think you’re a dumba*s f*cking kid who got some p*ssy that was too good for him, and it got in his head, and it f*cked you up. I look at you like a victim.”

Sean Strickland tells Ian Garry to direct message him if he has a problem
Sean Strickland has never been shy of calling people out for a street fight. Although he’d rather avoid the conflict, Strickland offered Ian Garry the opportunity to settle their differences in person.
The UFC middleweight champion had this to say during the previously mentioned Instagram video:
“I don’t wanna fight you, bro. I’m happy for your success. I’m happy for you. But, if you look at me hard, and you’re feeling some kind of way, if you’re feeling some type of way that you need to get this sh*t f*cking handled, and you wanna look at me hard, and that’s what you want, slide up in the DMs. I don’t want it, but if that’s what you want, you know where to find me.”
On December 16, Ian Garry looks to extend his promotional record to 7-0 with a win on the UFC 296 main card. To do so, Garry must get through his former training partner Vicente Luque, who is coming off a unanimous decision win against Rafael dos Anjos.
As for Sean Strickland, the 185-pound king will defend his throne for the first time in the UFC 297 main event on January 20. Standing in Strickland’s way is the South African-born Dricus du Plessis, who defeated Robert Whittaker last time out to extend his UFC record to 6-0.
