Sean O’Malley has fired back at those who believe he truly lost at UFC 280 against Petr Yan.

Sean O’Malley Fires Back At Critical Fans

Over the weekend, O’Malley participated in what was the biggest fight of his mixed martial arts (MMA) career.

O’Malley went head-to-head with ex-UFC bantamweight champion Petr Yan. The fight went the distance, allowing the judges to score the bout and determine the winner.

Despite many believing that Yan got the job done for the victory, the judges awarded O’Malley the split decision victory.

Many have suggested that it was a horrible decision, taking their frustrations out on O’Malley online.

Now, O’Malley has responded to the criticisms he has been receiving from fans, telling them to direct their anger at the judges, not him, as he didn’t score the fight.

“Let me hear it, boys,” O’Malley said. “Post-fight, some of you guys might have thought I lost, some of you might have thought I won. At the end of the day, they said I won.

“Happy with how it played out as far as landing big shots, ate some big shots. Goddamn, that was a war. That was a mental battle and I knew that going in.

“It’s not my f—king fault. You guys wanna go tell the refs, the judges, that I lost, you wanna go tell Dana [White], tell whoever, but don’t tell me. Save it, boys, cause that’s not what my record says.”

Despite the controversial decision, one thing fans can agree on is that the fight was a classic, earning Fight Of The Night honors and an extra $50,000 bonus for each men.

Now, O’Malley finds himself on a four-fight win streak. Also, with a victory over a former champion in Yan, O’Malley could be in line for a shot at the 135-pound title shot.

Currently, the division is run by Aljamain Sterling, who also earned a victory at UFC 280, defeating TJ Dillashaw to successfully retain his title.
