Sean O’Malley took on his toughest test to date in former interim bantamweight champion and current top contender Petr Yan at UFC 280.

Round 1

Yan with a low kick. O’Malley moving on the outside. O’Malley dodges a strong left hook from Yan. Nice body kick from Yan. O’Malley with a 1-2 and a leg push. Straight right hand from O’Malley. Yan goes for a takedown and gets Sean against the cage. Yan with a flurry before getting a double leg takedown. O’Malley gets up to his feet. O’Malley shoots for a takedown.

Round 2

O’Malley with a nice right. Big left from O’Malley connects. Another right hook lands for O’Malley. Huge right from Yan sends O’Malley down. O’Malley has Yan in full guard. Yan gets out and lays the ground and pound. O’Malley gets out but Yan maintains position as they get up to their feet. Yan gets O’Malley down with a trip but he recovers quickly. Both trade strikes. Huge body kick by Yan. O’Malley grappling Yan off the fence. Yan gets the double leg. Yann ends the round on top.

Round 3

O’Malley starts the round off strong with high striking volume. O’Malley working off the jab and keeping his distance. Yan shoots for a takedown but doesn’t get it. Nice knee by O’Malley up the middle. Another huge knee from O’Malley. Yan connects with a huge left. Another big shot from Yan. O’Malley with a big leg kick. Yan grapples against the cage and takes him down. Big left from Yan rocks O’Malley. Yan goes for grappling again but O’Malley gets out. Yan gets another takedown.
