Sean O’Malley and Jorge Masvidal are both convinced Dustin Poirier will dethrone Islam Makhachev at UFC 302.

Different scenarios, same result

Speaking on his official YouTube channel, “Suga” shared his decisive UFC 302 main event prediction. The way O’Malley sees it, “The Diamond” will rely on his deadly guillotine choke and tap the champ within two rounds.

“I believe in fate buddy, Dustin Poirier guillotine’s Islam round number 2, that’s what I’m thinking. No, no, no. That’s what I know is gonna happen,” O’Malley said.

On the other hand, Masvidal also thinks Poirier will prevail. However, “Gamebred” predicted that “The Diamond” will viciously ground and pound Makhachev en route to the lightweight title victory.

“I know it’s not gonna be no walk in the park, but man I just have this feeling he pulls it off, bro. He just makes that home run. He catches Islam, puts him down, he hits him while he’s on the ground, fight’s over and he walks away with that f**king belt on his shoulder,” Masvidal predicted.

O’Malley gives update on his title fight with Merab

Meanwhile, O’Malley also has a title to defend and he is currently being heavily linked to Merab Dvalishvili. According to the reigning bantamweight champ, Dvalishvili’s fight confirmation is unreliable as nothing has been concrete at this point. However, O’Malley hopes that it happens soon and preferably at the Sphere.

“Hopefully, f**king Vagas. I mean, I keep pushing for the Sphere, I keep hearing little rumors about who’s fighting at the Sphere… that rumor went around I know Merab went on some ESPN or UFC India show or some sh*t and said that we were fighting at the Sphere but he just kind of said that because I had been pushing for it and it got picked up everywhere but… There’s been no talks with me and the UFC about the Sphere. I think they’re waiting on some things to play out,” O’Malley said.

As O’Malley awaits for the UFC’s final decision, UFC 302 is set to take place this weekend at the Prudential Center in Newark, New Jersey. In the main event, Makhachev will try and defend his lightweight strap for the third time, while Poirier will hope to finally become a champion before possibly considering retiring.
