Top 10 welterweights stepped into the Octagon at UFC 280 as undefeated No. 8 ranked contender Sean Brady met No. 5 ranked Belal Muhammad.
Both fighters are surging in the welterweight division with Muhammad riding a seven-fight win streak, carrying notable wins against Demian Maia, Stephen ‘Wonderboy’ Thompson, and Vicente Luque. In the other corner is the 15-0 Brady who looks to keep his ‘O’ intact following a dominant win over Michael Chiesa last November.
Round 1
Muhammad looks to put on the pressure early, moving Brady to the outer part of the Octagon. Brady lets the hands go, landing a solid right. Brady with a 1-2 lands as Muhammad returns fire with a body kick. Brady lands his own body kick. Brady moves in for a takedown but quickly abandons it. Muhammad lands a solid right. 1-2 from Muhammad. Head kick from Muhammad is blocked and returned by Brady. Brady lands a stiff right hand as the two fighters begin to open up. Brady lands a glancing overhand as Muhammad swarms in bringing an end to the opening round.
Round 2
More pressure from Muhammad to open the second. Muhammad throws a looping right that partially lands. Brady throws a 1-2 back his way. Brady teases another takedown but quickly separates. A solid jab from Brady. Muhammad throws a right, and Brady answers back with a body kick. 1-2 from Brady. Muhammad throws a combination that appears to bust Brady’s nose. A high kick from Muhammad is blocked.
Brady lands a left hook, then a body kick. Left look lands for Brady. A leg kick takes Muhammad off his feet temporarily as he eats a left on his way up. Muhammad lands a right that rocks Brady. Swarming in against the fence, Muhammad unloads a series of strikes including another massive right hand prompting the referee to intervene and call a stop to the action with just 13 seconds remaining in the bout.
