Scott Coker still has AJ McKee under contract, but that won’t stop McKee from wanting to fight in the UFC.
The Bellator Featherweight Champion has made it clear that he wants his hands on UFC gold. McKee believes he’s the best 145lber in the world and wants to prove it to the world. Of course, he’d have to beat the likes of Alexander Volkanovski, Max Holloway to hold that respect.
Coker’s Response
What does Bellator President Scott Coker have to say about AJ’s UFC title aspirations? Well, Coker doesn’t hold it against him, even if ‘The Mercenary’ has 3 fights left on his contract.
“He’s a young kid, don’t hold it against him,” Coker told The Schmo. “That’s what I say. You know what it’s like when you’re a boxer, you wanna win the WBC and the WBA and you want to win all these belts… so the way the leagues are organized now is you have to have one or the other. I’m sure he would love to have multiple belts.
‘A Long Career’
Coker believes he will have McKee under the Bellator banner for many years to come.
“We feel we’re gonna have a long career with AJ, for many years. That [UFC talk] might have been his dad saying, ‘Hey son, just go out there and start yapping a little bit’. ‘Let’s make some noise’, you know.”
McKee has definitely made some noise ahead of his title rematch against Patricio Pitbull at Bellator 277. He will look to impress once again and make his case for why he’s the best featherweight in the world.
