Rumor: Not Rousey. Holly Holm’s first title defense will be versus Miesha Tate in March

Having just signed a multi-million-dollar extension with the UFC it’s now time for women’s bantamweight champion Holly Holm to defend her belt. But against whom? After dominating over the world of 135 pound women, should former champ Ronda Rousey get an immediate rematch? Or should Team Holm and the UFC seek out a more dessert orientated first title defense?

For the past several days rumors on The Internet, MMA message boards, Skype conference calls, and box socials have all pointed to Holly Holm defending her belt versus Miesha “Cupcake” Tate. Remember when the MMA Universe was briefly outraged at the mere thought of Holm not Tate getting a title shot versus Rousey at UFC 193 in Australia?

Chalk that one up as a loss for the online MMA outrage police.

Credentialed UFC media member @FrontRowBrian addresses the Holly Holm vs. Miesha Tate title fight happening this Spring.

And here’s audio of Chael Sonnen and FRB talking about a Holm-Tate fight in Dallas on the “You’re Welcome” podcast. The fight rumor discussion begins at the 1:04:00 point of the episode.
