Rose Namajunas and Gillian Robertson will headline Fury Pro Grappling 6.

Cage Fury FC found a headliner for their December 30 grappling event with only days to spare. Namajunas, a former UFC strawweight champion, and Robertson, a UFC flyweight veteran, will display their submission grappling skills in a ten-minute bout at the 2300 Arena in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania.

Fury Pro Grappling 6 features a handful of other UFC fighters, including Clay Guida vs Chase Hooper, Joseph Pyfer vs Eryk Anders, Andre Petroski vs Ovince St. Preux, Pat Sabatini vs Alex Caceres, Trevin Giles vs Mike Malott, and Phillip Rowe vs Nick Galanti.

December 30 will be Cage Fury’s third grappling event of 2022. There other two events were held in May and August. Despite their other events being successful, Namajunas vs Robertson is the most intriguing main event yet.

Rose Namajunas reacts to competing at Fury Pro Grappling 6 on December 30

Rose Namajunas had a disappointing calendar year. The former UFC champion only fought once in 2022. ‘Thug Rose’ ended up losing the strawweight title to Carla Esparza in a lackluster performance, to say the least. According to MMA Junkie, Namajunas released this statement about competing against Gillian Robertson:

“Competing in grappling was one of a few different goals I had for myself before I were to compete in fighting again. I’m very grateful for this opportunity to compete for FURY grappling. I’m very excited.”

Gillian Robertson is thankful for the opportunity against Rose Namajunas

Gillian Robertson made two Octagon appearances in 2022. She first lost to JJ Aldrich by unanimous decision before bouncing back with a submission win against Mariya Agapova. ‘The Savage’ looks to end the year with a statement by displaying her slick submission skills against Rose Namajunas. Robertson had this to say about the opportunity at Fury Pro Grappling 6:

“It’s great to be back with FURY for another extremely high-profile card. I am thankful for the opportunity to share the mat with such a notable opponent like Rose Namajunas… We’re both scrappy and submission savvy, so you can expect it to be fight of the night.”
