Robert Whittaker is excited to see Alex Pereira and Jiri Prochazka go toe-to-toe at UFC 295. Ahead of the match, “The Reaper” broke down the styles of both light heavyweight title contenders.

The dangerous meets the unorthodox

Speaking to MMArcade podcast, Whittaker noted that Pereira is perfect for the light heavyweight division and his impeccable striking is something Prochazka should watch closely come fight night. However, Whittaker also explained that he can’t just bank on the Brazilian’s standup game as he had also seen “BJP” walk away with a victory despite looking like he was about to lose against a dangerous striker in Glover Teixeira.

“This’s going to be a gnarly fight like it’s crazy for so many different reasons. Obviously, Pereira’s got amazing striking game. We’ve seen it and this is his weight division. He’s got the range, he’s got the reach, he’s got the height so he looks good inthis division but Jiri, he’s so unorthodox. He’s so hard to get a read on but he’s very hittable. He’s very hittable,” Whittaker assessed.

“I saw him in deep waters when he fought Glover [Teixeira]… Jiri looked in deep waters with some of those shots he was taking from Glover but he just never went away, just never went away and was kind of always like doing his unorthodox type fighting. Obviously, Glover was having a tough read of it but he was landing big shots for sure but again regardless, like, Glover looks really really good and then lost,” he continued.

“Jiri has an uncanny ability to find the win in these fights… he looks to be outclassed [but] he finds the wins,” he added.

Jiri thinks he knows what Alex can do

Pereira is confident about beating Prochazka following a successful light heavyweight debut against Jan Blachowicz at UFC 291. Understandably, Prochazka is not impressed by Pereira’s skills. In fact, the former 205-pound king is even certain that he could outclass “Poatan” in the standup.

UFC 295 is just days away from happening. The event will be headlined by Prochazka vs. Pereira and the winner will claim the vacant light heavyweight title.
