- Robert Whittaker thinks Alex Pereira will dominate Jamahal Hill once the fight passes the opening round
- “The Reaper” pointed out why “Poatan” has the advantage over “Sweet Dreams”
Robert Whittaker speculated that Alex Pereira would end up winning if Jamahal Hill fails to finish him in the first round.
Robert thinks Jamahal should get it done in one round
Speaking on his MMArcade podcast, “The Reaper” shared his UFC 300 predictions and gave an interesting take on Pereira vs. Hill. The way Whittaker sees it, “Poatan” has the advantage in almost every category but “Sweet Dreams” has the “power” and “unorthodox striking” as his strengths.
For Whittaker, Pereira knows well how to beat anybody put in front of him. However, Hill could still get the job done if he takes the Brazilian out within the opening round.
“I would say Alex Pereira is the more technical striker but he gets hit by unorthodox strikers and we saw that with Jiri and in my opinion, he got hurt in that fight as well, granted he still won because he’s so so experienced in those striking exchanges and in striking as a general. He can fight rocked, he knows how to do it, he’s done it a hundred, hundred times. Dude’s had so much fights and he’s so experienced in that field,” Whittaker said.
“But Jamahal Hill, I think brings an X-factor into this fight. He has serious power, he stopped a lot of guys like cold in their tracks with his hands and he’s bringing that unorthodox striking to the table,” he assessed.
“How that looks? I can see Pereira just chopping his legs, just chipping away the way he does. He’s such a technical striker and he understands that fights are won with leg kicks and body shots. He does so well at doing that… I think if the fight goes pass the first round, I would lean towards Pereira, perhaps. I don’t know. That’s all I’m going to say,” he predicted.
Alex assessed Jamahal
Heading into their highly-anticipated light heavyweight title fight, Pereira said he expects Hill to be at his “100%” despite how serious his Achilles injury was. The reigning champ also thinks “Sweet Dreams” is a dangerous fighter but Jiri Prochazka is tougher to beat.
If Pereira manages to defend his light heavyweight title without incurring too much damage, he plans to do quick turnaround and compete at UFC 301 in Brazil. On the other hand, Hill is focused on reclaiming his belt.
