A sequel to Road House is officially in the works.

According to a report from Variety, Amazon Studios has announced their plans to move forward with the franchise. That should come as no surprise after the film smashed Prime Video streaming records, bringing in a reported 50 million viewers in its first two weeks on the platform.

Overall, Road House has amassed 80 million viewers according to Amazon MGM Studio chief Jennifer Salke.

“As we saw this spring the world went crazy for a little movie called ‘Road House,’” Salke said on stage at the Pier 36 venue in New York City. “Nearly 8 million viewers globally have watched ‘Road House.’ We like to watch this these results like a baby.”

Jake Gyllenhaal is already confirmed to return as ex-MMA fighter turned bouncer Elwood Dalton, but no other details have been released regarding the next entry in Amazon’s newest film franchise.

Conor McGregor Unlikely to Return for Road House 2

Road House is a remake of the 1989 action classic starring the late Patrick Swayze as a mysterious bouncer who travels from bar to bar, ridding each location of its unsavory elements. Gyllenhaal’s character plays a similar role, though his backstory is a bit more fleshed out than in the OG actioner. Another big change is location with the first film taking place in a small town in Missouri while the remake switches up its Midwestern setting for the fictional town of Glass Key in the Florida Keys.

Aside from Gyllenhaal, the film also featured UFC megastar Conor McGregor as Knox, a skull-cracking mercenary hired to take out Gyllenhaal’s character.

For many, McGregor’s unhinged performance was the most entertaining part of the film. Unfortunately, it looks as though the Irishman won’t be back for round two.

“Congrats guys,” McGregor wrote on his Instagram stories. “Wish you all the best of luck with it.”

Road House also starred Daniela Melchior (The Suicide Squad) as Gyllenhaal’s love interest, Billy Magnussen (Game Night) as the film’s big bad, and Jessica Williams (Fantastic Beasts: The Secrets of Dumbledore) as a bar own desperately trying to keep her roadhouse free of degenerates.
