Report: Justin Gaethje Vs. Dustin Poirier Is In Works For Spring UFC Showdown

Dustin Poirier is expected to square off against Justin Gaethje at an as-yet-to-be-determined UFC event, but reports are a lightweight slugfest is in the works for the spring.

Reports have emerged today from MMAJunkie’s Steven Marocco that Justin Gaethje may have his next fight and it’s a matchup that will most surely deliver the action. His foe is expected to be Dustin Poirier, and it’s expected to happen at either UFC 222 on March 3 in Las Vegas or UFC 223 in Brooklyn, New York.

UFC 222 is set for March 3 in Las Vegas and features a Max Holloway vs. Frankie Edgar featherweight title bout as the main event. The only known event currently scheduled for April is UFC 223, which takes place at Barclays Center, in Brooklyn, and features a headliner between Tony Ferguson and Khabib Nurmagomedov.

Dustin Poirier immediately campaigned for a rematch with Eddie Alvarez, after his third-round TKO victory over Anthony Pettis last November.

Poirier was hoping to settle the number between him and Eddie Alvarez, whom he fought to a no contest due to an accidental knee landed by the former Bellator MMA champion
at UFC 211 this past May. He has also made things more personal after finding out that the Alvarez called him a quitter during their first fight.

Justin Gaethje, meanwhile, is coming off the first defeat of his 19-bout career, a third-round TKO loss to Eddie Alvarez at UFC 218.

Who will come out victorious between Justin and Dustin?
