Replay: On New Year’s Kid Yamamoto fought legend Masato under K-1 rules in Japan

So Kid Yamamoto spent his New Year’s doing Kid Yamamoto things in Japan. On a three fight UFC losing streak Kid Yamamoto challenged K-1 MAX legend Masato to a rematch of their classic 2004 K-1 Premium Dynamite kickboxing match. Only Kid Yamamoto would be krazy enough to step in a ring and go toe-to-toe with Masato under K-1 rules.

In their first fight Masato took a three round decision and in their rematch Yamamoto appears to be in great shape but often times appeared out of his element versus the former number one ranked lightweight kickboxer in the world. Masato has been retired since 2009 but his hand speed was still able to get the best Yamamoto on more than a few occasions. Masato seemed to take great pleasure in cracking Yamamoto’s skull with punches.

Combat sports in Japan over the New Year’s holiday looks to be alive and kicking.
