Renato Moicano reflected on his viral interview moment and discussed his upcoming fight against Drew Dober.

In November 2022, Moicano was matched up against Brad Riddell for the UFC 291 featured preliminary bout. The Brazilian secured an impressive first-round submission win against Riddell, but his post-fight interview is what fans will never forget.

Moicano utilized his microphone time with Joe Rogan to the fullest, as his passion and energy set Madison Square Garden on fire. After hyping up the crowd, the fourteen-fight UFC veteran screamed, “Moicano wants money,” instantly making him a fan favorite.

Moicano recently did an exclusive interview with MiddleEasy and had this to say about the unforgettable moment:

“Yeah, definitely was a benefit, especially re-negotiating the contract. After the fight, we got a new contract. Of course not everybody could be good because it was a six-fight deal, so that’s too much, but I got paid good. This is what the UFC is all about for me, like it’s a business. So, at the end of the day, I think people got to know me a little bit more because of the interview.”

Unfortunately, Moicano hasn’t fought since November 2022 due to injuries. During the previously mentioned interview, ‘Money Moicano’ had this to say about fans potentially forgetting about him because of his inactivity:

“Like I said, one year without fighting, people forget, so I’m not too worried about this to. I’m worry about performing, and I’m worried about going over there and doing my best and beat Drew Dober. That’s what I’m thinking right now.”

Renato Moicano talks about upcoming fight against Drew Dober

On February 3, Renato Moicano will return to action when he meets Drew Dober in the UFC Vegas 85 co-main event. Moicano hopes to pick up where he left off, but it’ll be easier said than done as Dober has solidified himself as one of the most durable fighters in the lightweight division.

During his exclusive interview with MiddleEasy, Moicano had this to say about his upcoming opponent:

“I think Drew Dober is a really tough fighter. I think he’s powerful. I think he’s been in the UFC for a long time like I am. Overall, I think this is a good fight for me too. I think it’s a fight that makes sense because rankings-wise wise we are close on the rankings.”

Moicano continued:

“To be honest with you, it’s just another fight. I’m not thinking too much about Drew Dober. I’m thinking about what I have to do to beat Drew Dober. So, I’m not thinking too much about his skills. I think about my skills, and I’m training my skills to go over there and performance my best fight so far.”

Renato Moicano is the number thirteen-ranked UFC lightweight, with Drew Dober closely behind at thirteen. With a win against Dober, Moicano would prove he’s a legitimate contender who belongs in exciting fights against the best at 155 pounds.
