Lightweight knockout artist Drew Dober returned to the Octagon on Saturday night for a showdown with division standout Ricky Glenn as part of the UFC Vegas 80 main card.
After seeing his three-fight win streak snapped in his last outing against Matt Frevola, Dober will look to get back into the win column against an Iowa native desperate for a W. Glenn walked into his second scrap of 2023 having gone 1-2-1 in his last four outings. With his back against the wall, ‘The Gladiator’ stepped into the Octagon ready to land a big win over the photogenic fan favorite.
Round 1
Glenn goes to the body with a kick to open things up. Dober responds with a solid strike to the body of Glenn. Dober again lunges in for a body shot, followed by another. Dober goes high with a head kick that Glenn blocks. Glenn lands a solid left in response. A stiff calf kick from Dober lands. Dober goes back to the lead leg of Glenn twice before landing another body blow. Dober goes upstairs landing a solid right. Glenn appears to be a bit overwhelmed and Dober moves in, offering an onslaught of strikes.
Glenn hits the canvas but manages to fight his way back up. Dober lands a big overhand left that puts Glenn back on the mat. Dober unleashes some hellacious ground and pound that forces referee Chris Tognoni to step in and call for the stoppage.
Official Result: Drew Dober def. Ricky Glenn via TKO (strikes) at 2:36 of Round 1.
