Pro-Fighters React To Max Holloway vs. Dustin Poirier Title Fight Booking At UFC 236

Al Iaquinta, Tony Ferguson, And Other Fighters React To Holloway vs. Poirier Interim Title Fight News

Yesterday (Fri., Feb. 22, 2019) news broke that MMA Gods booked an interim lightweight title fight between current featherweight champion Max Holloway and Dustin Poirier for UFC 236 main headliner. The event set to take place on April 13 at State Farm Arena in Atlanta.

This fight was expected considering Khabib Nurmagomedov a current UFC lightweight champion is sitting on the shelf until November, so the matchup between ‘Blessed’ and ‘The Diamond’ came as a surprise to many especially Poirier who earlier this week request for UFC release.

The top lightweight contenders Tony Ferguson and Al Iaquinta who’re sitting on the top of the division, arguably made the most sense to take a shot at an interim title.

Later UFC president Dana White revealed the reasons that Ferguson turned down Holloway fight, it seems there were financial discrepancies in the fight contract.

Now many pro fighters including Ferguson and Al Iaquinta react to this news.
