- Paddy Pimblett admitted that he wants Tony Ferguson to win a fight before he retires
- “The Baddy” is honored to face “El Cucuy” but insists he would still finish the UFC legend
Paddy Pimblett would fancy seeing an MMA legend like Tony Ferguson secure a win before calling it quits. However, “The Baddy” doesn’t want it to happen with him on the other end.
It’s an honor but it’s still a fight
Speaking to TNT Sports ahead of UFC 296, Pimblett vowed to go toe-to-toe with “El Cucuy” no matter what. For “The Baddy,” it’s a great honor to face Ferguson but he would still enter the Octagon and do what he has to do.
“I want another war to be honest, I’ve said this and we’ll see who falls first,” Pimblett said. “I’m game to get in there with him and try and make up for the fight from last year and get another 50 Grand bonus, even better if I get 100 Grand now, Fight of the Night and Performance of the Night.”
“Even I want Tony Ferguson to get a win and then. I just can’t let him do it at my expense. It’s not happening. I’m expecting the best version of Tony and it’s going to be an absolute honor to share the cage with him,” he added.
Goggins training is stupid
Ferguson linked up with fitness expert David Goggins as part of his UFC 296 preparation against Pimblett. According to “The Baddy,” he respects what “El Cucuy” wants to do but he personally thinks training with Goggins wouldn’t do anything to improve his MMA skills.
“If that’s what Tony feels he needs to do lad, then okay you know what I mean, if it makes you feel better but I personally think it’s quite stupid I don’t think doing 19,000 lunges across an American football field is going to help you in an MMA fight,” Pimblett commented.
Pimblett will be coming in looking to secure his fifth consecutive UFC win and hopes to finish Ferguson in Round 1. On the other hand, Ferguson will try and end his ugly six-fight losing streak.
