Paddy Pimblett is laser-focused on securing a statement win over Tony Ferguson at UFC 296. For “The Baddy,” it’s a great opportunity to finally move up a notch and break into the Top 15 of the lightweight division.

The Baddy wants to let everybody know that he’s the real deal

Speaking to The Schmo, Pimblett vowed to become a better version of himself against “El Cucuy.” His plan is to finish the former UFC lightweight interim champion in one round before hunting “ranked opponents” for his next fight.

“I’ve got a statement to make, it’s been a while since I’ve had so long outside the cage. By the time I fight, I’ll have over a year out of the cage. The amount of training I’ve done to get better and I’m just a different fighter. It’s gonna be ‘The Baddy’ 2.0, a new mythical fighter is going to get unlocked. I want to be champ lad, of course. It goes without saying,” Pimblett declared.

“Can’t get ahead of myself, especially after my last performance. All I’m thinking about now is coming out and finishing Tony Ferguson in the first round, make a statement, let everyone know what they were missing, and then I’ll start looking at ranked opponents in the UFC,” he pointed out.

Paddy rips his critics once again

As most can recall, many speculated that the UFC was favoring Pimblett by slating him against Ferguson, who has gone winless in his last six trips to the Octagon. For “The Baddy,” that doesn’t make any sense as he still remembers how people criticized him prior to being booked against “El Cucuy.”

“It’s just quite annoying like cause a couple of weeks ago before this fight got announced, [they say] I was the worst lightweight in the UFC you know what I mean, I was sh*t you know what I mean, I was the worst on the division and then as soon as me and Tony Ferguson gets called, it’s like, ‘Oh, they’re feeding Tony to the wolves.’ How can the waste in the division be a wolf? Use your own logic, you gang of gob sh*ts… stop contradicting yourselves and sort your facts out, you gang of bums,” Pimblett exclaimed.

Pimblett will be looking to prove that he’s more than just a hype train by extending his unbeaten UFC run to 5-0. On the other hand, Ferguson will see if he still got it as he comes in evidently on his last leg.
