Sean O’Malley isn’t a promoter but he sure is selling the hell out of Jake Paul vs. Nate Diaz.

‘I Don’t Know A Fight Bigger’

Both ‘The Problem Child’ and hot free agent Diaz had a lot of options for their next fight. But in the end, the two fighters would settle on each other, agreeing to fight on August 5th in Dallas, Texas.

O’Malley believes this matchup is simply massive.

“Nate is a legend. It’s one of the biggest fights you could possibly make right now — potentially the biggest fight,” O’Malley said on his podcast. “I don’t know a fight bigger for Jake right now than Nate Diaz.”

‘Will Nate Diaz’s Chin Hold Up?’

‘Suga’ would preview the upcoming fight, which is Paul’s first since a loss to Tommy Fury and Diaz’s first since leaving the UFC last year. He also questions if Diaz’s durability in the Octagon will be present in the boxing ring.

“Nate Diaz is gonna be a lot smaller. Jake is a big boy and packs a punch. Will Nate Diaz’s chin hold up?” O’Malley continued. “He will get hit with that right hand possibly. He hit Tommy with it, Tommy ate it. Tommy really didn’t have any issues with that right hand. But Tommy’s also a bigger guy.

“Nate Diaz has shown his legendary chin time and time again. Boxing is a different sport. I think Nate and Anderson [Silva] are probably similar, kind of. I don’t know what Nate’s gonna bring to the table that Anderson did. It’s gonna be very, very interesting. Eight three minute rounds. If it would’ve been 12 [rounds], I would’ve been like, I would’ve been leaning over maybe Nate. Well, we also we haven’t seen Nate box before. But he’s been literally sparring pro boxers his entire career for 20 years. He’s been sparring some of the best boxers. Some of the best boxers have come out and be like, yeah, Nate gives me issues. So the dude can box.”

No Early Prediction For O’Malley

Despite giving his analysis of the super-fight, O’Malley refuses to lock in a prediction for it just yet.

[Diaz] might not have the power, but the thing is, when you get to a certain level of fatigue, you don’t need that much power. You need volume and just the right shot to land. I’m not making an early prediction yet. I’m too freaking nervous.

“Jake Paul vs. Nate Diaz is one of the most exciting boxing fights you could put on right now in boxing. And I say that as a casual, not even a casual boxing fan. I don’t watch boxing very often.”

We’ll see if Sean O’Malley provides a prediction closer to the fight, which takes place on August 5th.
