Nick Diaz was almost on that Blind Date show a few years ago

Hyperbole aside, I can think of hundreds of reality TV shows I would pay good money to see Nick Diaz on. Granted, most of them aren’t actual reality TV shows, just reality TV shows that my own imagination has created. Examples include: Nick Diaz on a real life forensic crime unit, Nick Diaz tagging along on a storm chaser like TV show, Nick Diaz coaching a pee wee football team and finally, Nick Diaz managing a drive thru ice cream parlor on a hot summer weekend in Kentucky. You will have to pay for the rest. Forget boxing Nick, lets go make TV together.

Surprisingly, my wish for Getting Nick Diaz on screwball reality TV programs has been thought of before. According to Urijah Faber, the UFC tried to get Mr 209 onto Blind Date a few years ago along with his then UFC cohorts, Pete Spratt, Tim Sylvia, Josh Thomson and Tiki Ghosn. Go ahead, click those links, be entertained. Here is what Urijah told ESPN:

“I remember Diaz telling me years ago how they punished him for not going on that dating show they were having a couple of fighters go on. They would go on this dating show, [the UFC] wanted him on there for publicity. Nick had a girlfriend at the time and he wouldn’t do it,”

“They put him and I think Karo on the undercard, somebody vs. Nick Diaz was on the undercard. He’s got a chip on his shoulder when it comes to those guys sometimes. They’re trying to help him and he’s trying to help himself… I wish the best for Nick, I think they’ll make it work out.”

So if Nick didn’t have a girlfriend he would have gone on the show? That’s what I get out of this. Oh what could have been.
