In a different timeline we could see Hunter S. Thompson hanging out the after party of UFC 202 with either Nate Diaz or Conor McGregor. The entire build up to and aftermath of UFC 196: Diaz vs. McGregor 1 was MMA’s best fever dream/acid trip. All these magical things were happening right in front of MMA fan faces and you almost had to touch them to believe they were real.
UFC 202: Diaz vs. McGregor The Rematch goes down on August 20th in Las Vegas. There is an unwritten rule that the sequel is never as good as the original but maybe Diaz and McGregor can channel their inner Raoul Duke and Dr. Gonzo, while producing something special for MMA’s eyeballs to feast upon.
