One-night tournaments aren’t a thing anymore in the UFC, but that won’t stop Conor McGregor from thinking he can finish two fighters in a row.

After nearly three years away, the former two-division champion is getting ready to wreak havoc in the Octagon once again and that starts with Michael Chandler at UFC 303. Ahead of the summer showdown on June 29th, Charles Oliveira has thrown his name in the hat to be possibly a part of the mix.

Oliveira Wants Back-Up Duty At UFC 303

The welterweight bout between McGregor and Chandler is still very much intact with more than month to go but “Do Bronx” more than happy to weigh in as a back-up fighter should either fighter fall through in the booking.

“I’ve offered myself to be the alternate for that fight and obviously, I’m down for that,” Oliveira told MMA Fighting through a translator. “I’ll make some money if I don’t fight, if I do fight him, then awesome. The only condition if I were to fight McGregor, then I’d have to renegotiate that before.”

Oliveira finds himself in a weird place in the lightweight division after losing his #1 contender spot to Arman Tsarukyan at UFC 300. Following the setback, the former champion has been open about taking a welterweight fight. But, the move would likely be for McGregor vs. Chandler as it takes place at 170lbs instead of his native home of lightweight.

McGregor: “I Do Yous Both Inside Of A Round”

The returning McGregor has always looked on to a potential fight with Oliveira as he wore a mouthguard with the Brazilian’s flag on it before his last fight against Dustin Poirier. The former champs have yet to collide and who knows if they ever will, should Chandler make it to UFC 303.

However, McGregor has touted in confidence that he’d take out both Oliveira and Chandler, one after another in back-to-back fights.

“I do yous both in the same night, no sweat,” McGregor wrote on ‘X’. “I do yous both inside of a round. Combined. I got the magic paws ask Rio and São Paulo about me and my magic. The Irish Wand.”

Conor McGregor is undefeated against Brazilians, sparking ‘The Ultimate Fighter’ winner Diego Brandao as well as then-champion Jose Aldo in his featherweight title run.
