Nate Diaz sees the Conor McGregor trilogy fight as an inevitable matchup.
In March 2016, Diaz shocked the world when he submitted ‘The Notorious,’ giving him his first loss in the UFC. Five months later, McGregor avenged the loss and secured a majority decision win in the rematch against the Stockton native.
MMA fans worldwide have wondered if the mainstream superstars will meet for a trilogy bout before retiring. Luckily, Diaz thinks the matchup is inevitable. Shortly after his press conference with Jake Paul, the Stockton native joined Mike Bohn of MMA Junkie for an interview and had this to say about potentially fighting ‘The Notorious’ again:
“I would like to get the third fight with Conor [McGregor]… I think it’s inevitable, so yeah, for sure, we will be fighting.”
Before worrying about his UFC return, Diaz has business to take care of in professional boxing. On August 5, the former UFC title challenger will take on ‘The Problem Child’ in Dallas, Texas. Paul is coming off his first boxing loss against Tommy Fury, while the Stockton native is making his debut.
Once Diaz is finished with his boxing venture, he plans to return to the Octagon. He last fought in the UFC in September 2022, defeating Tony Ferguson with a fourth-round submission in the UFC 279 main event.

Nate Diaz thinks Conor McGregor is better than Michael Chandler
Conor McGregor is expected to make his highly-anticipated UFC return later this year. While he finishes working out his eligibility status with USADA, ‘The Notorious’ coached the upcoming season of The Ultimate Fighter against Michael Chandler. The UFC superstars are expected to fight after the season is finished airing. During the same interview with MMA Junkie, Nate Diaz was asked who he thinks will win between McGregor and Diaz. He responded by saying:
“Chandler is real tough and explosive… I think Conor’s better than Chandler, but Chandler, you’re great too.”
McGregor last fought in July 2021, losing against Dustin Poirier for a second consecutive time. The former two-division UFC champion also suffered a severe leg injury, leading to a lengthy recovery. Meanwhile, Chandler is coming off a third-round submission loss against Poirier in November 2022. He hopes to bounce back with a life-changing win against ‘The Notorious.’
