Nate Diaz will not face any legal consequences for his role in a brawl on Bourbon Street in April.

Per a report from MMA Fighting, Diaz is no longer facing second-degree battery charges after a viral video showed the ex-UFC superstar rendering influencer and Logan Paul look-a-like Rodney Peterson unconscious amid an altercation outside of a Misfits Boxing event in The Big Easy.

Hours after the incident, an arrest warrant was issued for Diaz by the New Orleans Police Department

Shortly after, the ‘Stockton Samurai’ turned himself into the NOPD where he was booked and promptly released. Today, five months removed from the incident, we learned through Diaz’s representative, Zach Rosenfield, that a case against the TUF alumnus has been dropped by the Orleans Parish District Attorney’s office.

“Today, the Orleans Parish District Attorney informed us they will not be pursuing a case against Nate Diaz. Since Rodney Peterson sought out to fight Nate on Bourbon Street, we have maintained Nate’s actions were 100% in self-defense.

“It was clear on video, clear in pictures, and clear from the multiple other videos Rodney posted before and after,” Rosenfield said in a statement. “Nate has a right to defend himself against those who want to make a name for themselves and did so. We appreciate the Orleans Parish District Attorney taking the time to review all aspects of this case and their decision to not proceed with it.”

After reviewing all available evidence pertaining to the case, the New Orleans District Attorney’s office further confirmed that they would no longer be proceeding with charges against Mr. Diaz.

“The 2nd-degree battery charge against Mr. Nathan Diaz was refused by the Orleans Parish District Attorney’s Office,” wrote Keith D. Lampkin, the office’s Chief of Operations & External Affairs. “After reviewing all available evidence of the allegation, including video and testimony, there is not sufficient support to prove the alleged crime.”

Fortunately, the investigation did not prevent Nate Diaz from cashing on in his big-money boxing match with social media sensation Jake Paul. The pair of polarizing combat sports figures stepped inside the squared circle on August 5 and delivered a highly entertaining 10-round scrap that saw ‘The Problem Child’ walk away with the win via unanimous decision.

Diaz is yet to reveal what his next step will be, but after banking a reported $20 million from his fight with Paul, we would expect him to sit back and enjoy the fruits of his labor for the time being.
