It’s no secret we love ourselves some world class Sambo around here. Maybe it’s because we see the family resemblance to BJJ, yet, at the same time, find the sport to be so different from BJJ. I’m speaking for myself when I say I admire the tenacity of the throws and quick attacks, especially as compared to modern day BJJ competition. I can also assure you all it’s definitely not the uniforms as I still find the short shorts a little on the brief side for my taste. I just chalk that up to some sort of Eastern European sensibility.
The Sambo World Championships just went down this past weekend in Vilnius, Lithuania. Check out some great action and a good amount of writhing in pain.
