MMA Junkie’s Doctor Johnny Benjamin Found Guilty of Federal Drug Charges Including Selling Fentanyl & Oxycodone

Been wondering what happened to Dr. Johnny Benjamin and his regular column on MMA Junkie “Medical Beat”?

Well, wonder no more. Turns out that old Doc Johnny was slanging dope in these streets.

Treasure Coast News is reporting that Johnny Benjamin was found guilty of five counts of drug charges stemming from a DEA sting operation. Turns out, two DEA informants have been recording drug sales they had with Johnny Benjamin for the last year or so. It also turns out, the DEA doesn’t take too kindly to doctors selling drugs across state lines. Tragically, the fentanyl Benjamin was selling is linked to the death of a 34 year old Florida woman.

Naturally, MMA Junkie and their parent company USA Today addressed Benjamin’s conviction and fall from grace in the most transparent way possible. They deleted all of Johnny Benjamin’s “Medical Beat” articles from the website and never mentioned him again. Only this post authored by “MMA Junkie Staff” is left to mark the incredible hubris of a man who would criticize the ethical shortcomings of endless numbers of people in MMA, all the while peddling death to pay his bills.

To anyone reading this that is abusing opioids, get help. If you know someone who is struggling, reach out, try to get them help. The opioid crisis in America is real and it exists inside the MMA community in a real way.
