Featherweight contenders collide!
‘Thug Nasty’ Bryce Mitchell tries to rebound from his first loss as he takes on hard-hitting Hawaiian Dan Ige. The bout serves as the co-main event of UFC Vegas 79.
Round 1:
Ige lands a left hook to begin the fight. Mitchell shoots for a takedown and gets it. Ige gets back to his feet. Mitchell works for another takedown and eventually gets it, although Ige isn’t held down for long as he escapes the bottom position. Mitchell tries for another takedown, getting the back of Ige on the feet. Mitchell topples Ige on the ground. Mitchell looks for an arm-triangle from top position. Mitchell lands some ground and pound to close out the round.

Round 2:
Ige blitzes Mitchell with a combo of strikes, Mitchell turns it around with a takedown attempt. Ige manages to stay upright on the feet and they separate. Ige hits Mitchell with a left hook. Mitchell’s right eye almost shut with blood trickling all around the eye and the referee pauses the action to check in on it.
Mitchell is good to go and the fight starts again. Ige topples Mitchell on the ground, but not for long as Mitchell gets back up. Mitchell shoots for a takedown from across the cage, which he doesn’t get. Mitchell lands big on Ige before ultimately getting a takedown on Ige. Mitchell takes Ige’s back before the Hawaiian turns around. Mitchell attempts an arm-triangle, but Ige survives the submission to see the end of the round.
CDS: 10-9 Mitchell
Round 3:
Ige and Mitchell go to the ground, with Ige on top. That’s not the case for long though as Mitchell secures a body triangle on Ige and seizes the back of Ige. Ige works his way up to his feet but Mitchell stays on him like glue. After a moment spent in the clinch, Mitchell picks up Ige and dumps him to the ground. Ige controls Mitchell against the cage as the round ends.
