Stepping in on short notice, Bryce Mitchell returned to the Octagon gunning for his second-straight win against one-time interim title challenger Josh Emmett as part of the UFC 296 main card.
Round 1
Mitchell comes out and immediately puts pressure on Emmett. Circling the cage, Emmett is the first one to offer a bit of offense but misses the mark. Emmet throws a left that lands glancingly. Mitchell fires back with a calf kick. As Mitchell moved in to throw a right, Emmett unleashed a booming right hand that caught ‘Thug Nasty’ on the button and sent him to the shadow realm instantly.
Mitchell was in convulsions on the canvas for some time, but fortunately, he regained consciousness and appeared to be okay, exiting the cage before the official announcement was made.
Official Result: Josh Emmett def. Bryce Mitchell via KO (overhand right) at 1:57 of Round 1.
