Michael Bisping feels Jon Jones shouldn’t walk away from the sport after his next fight.
It seems that UFC heavyweight champion Jon Jones’ days might be numbered. Earlier this week Jones took to Twitter to announce his intentions to fight his retirement bout in Madison Square Garden. As expected fans reacted to this news with sad face emojis and begging him not to retire. Now UFC commentator Michael Bisping is stating his disappointment in this fact as well.
How cool would it be to spend my retirement fight dominating the greatest heavyweight of all time, in my home state at Madison Square Garden?

Michael Bisping feels fans would be disappointed if Jon Jones only had one fight left in the UFC
For many years Jones was the king of the UFC light heavyweight division. He won the title back in 2011 and defended eight times. Despite several incidences that led him to be stripped of the title he has never lost it in the cage. In 2020 Jones decided to step away from the UFC and in turn, relinquish his light heavyweight title. Three years later he returned at heavyweight and won the title of “Baddest Man On The Planet” when he defeated Ciryl Gane at UFC 285. Now he is calling for a retirement fight against Stipe Miocic later this year at the famous Madison Square Garden. Michael Bisping believes it’s too soon for retirement talk.
“That will be disappointing for all the Jon Jones fans and just for MMA as a whole,” he said. “Jon steps out for three years, you know what I mean? There’s a big void. He comes back, he looks amazing against Cyril Gane, and then he’s gonna have one more call it a day? I mean, listen, the man can live his life and do whatever he wants, but as a fan, as a fan, I’ll be fuming.”
Although Bisping believes that a fight against Miocic in Madison Square Garden is a great idea he doesn’t want it to be the retirement fight. Jones is from upstate New York and has never fought in his home state for the UFC.
“Jones versus Stipe in Madison Square Garden, take my money,” he said. “I don’t think Jones has ever fought there, so I think it would be only fitting to have somebody with the greatness of Jon Jones, that would be amazing.”
It seems that Miocic is interested in fighting Jones, although he believed it would be in the summer. The two have been going back and forth on social media about contracts and dates. Now with the proposal of Madison Square Garden, which usually happens in November, it is unclear if Miocic would be able to make that fight work for him.
