  • “The Count” wants the commission to do something about it, especially with the referee

Michael Bisping is one of the many who weren’t pleased with the referee’s delayed stoppage in the controversial Jalin Turner vs. Bobby Green fight at UFC Austin.

Safety first

Speaking on his YouTube channel, “The Count” pointed out to everybody that in every combat sport, the safety of the fighters always comes first.

“Fighter safety is supposed to be paramount,” Bisping pointed out. “That was not good. That was an awful stoppage. One of the worst, if not the worst that I can remember in recent memory… It might not be the worst but from what I can remember and maybe it’s recency bias, that was the worst stoppage I’ve ever seen, man.”

The worst stoppage thus far

Bisping went on and recapped what happened to give his followers a better understanding of the referee’s fault. For the former UFC middleweight champ, the case should be reviewed by the commission.

“He is pretty much out, unconscious right there but of course, the referee didn’t stop the fight,” Bisping described. “Jalin Turner follows him down Boom! Boom! a few more punches, gets on top of him, Bobby Green is face down on the canvas and Jalin Turner has no choice but to continue to rain down potentially, well very very bloody traumatic blows, not potentially, they were heavy punches, they were knockout power punches one after the other after the other and the whole arena, all of the commentators everyone around the Octagon was in shock.”

“The referee, I don’t know his name and he is a good referee, he is okay but that was madness,” he continued. “That was insane. Bobby Gwas unconscious and he took about nine or 10 unnecessary blows. The commission have got to have a word with that guy. Maybe from his angle he couldn’t quite see it right, maybe he couldn’t see that Bobby Green was unconscious but he did go unconscious a couple of times

Many have shared the sentiment on the matter, including UFC president himself Dana White. Luckily, Green quickly gave fans an update about his condition through a positive social media post.

The KO lost to Turner saw Green ending his two-fight winning streak. On the other hand, Turner got back to the win column after losing a narrow split decision to Dan Hooker at UFC 290.
