- Conor McGregor shared his thoughts on the recent street fight incident involving his former UFC rival Nate Diaz
- “The Notorious” followed up by claiming he would dominate Diaz in grappling with his current condition and physique
Conor McGregor was evidently entertained by the recent street fight incident involving Nate Diaz outside the Misfits Boxing event in New Orleans. The nasty brawl is now circulating online where Diaz could be seen choking a Logan Paul-lookalike to sleep.
Unsurprisingly, “The Notorious” reacted to the incident and claimed he could easily dismantle Diaz in grappling.
A classic McGregor callout
Sharing his thoughts on Twitter, McGregor said:
“I mince nate in the clinch these days. Actually anyone in the clinch. Minced.”
The former UFC two-division champ later added:
“Left like bolognese ya go against me in the clinch.”
Separate paths
Indeed, McGregor’s recent comments about Diaz would’ve been an epic way to rekindle their rivalry and flirt with the idea of a trilogy match. However, Diaz is no longer with the UFC and is now exploring pro boxing.
Diaz and McGregor faced each other in the UFC twice with both future Hall of Famers securing one win apiece. In the first match, Diaz stunned fight fans by submitting McGregor via rear-naked choke at UFC 196. The Irish MMA superstar evened the score by earning a majority decision win in the rematch at UFC 202. A third fight never materialized but Diaz and “The Notorious” remained two of the biggest stars in the sport.
As it stands, Diaz is set to make his pro boxing debut against Jake Paul in August, while McGregor has been busy coaching his team against Michael Chandler’s at The Ultimate Fighter Season 31. McGregor and Chandler will take on each other in the season finale.
