Jorge Masvidal thinks the UFC is settling them up for legal trouble if they allow Colby Covington to fight for a title.

Jorge Masvidal believes Colby Covington could be a liability in the cage.

Jorge Masvidal is preparing for his next bout against Gilbert Burns this weekend. The UFC is returning to Miami, Florida for the first time in 20 years and Miami local, Masvidal is one of the key matchups on the card. He hopes that with a win over Burns, he can solidify himself a title shot against champion Leon Edwards. However, the UFC has already promised that position to Colby Covington, the last man to beat Masvidal.

Masvidal has been campaigning for himself to get the shot over Covington and is now warning the UFC that they potentially could be sued if they give Covington a shot against Leon Edwards. Masvidal was involved in a brawl with Covington last year, resulting in a lawsuit and arrests. Now he is claiming that details stemming from that incident could be causing a problem for the UFC.

Jorge Masvidal thinks Kobe Covington is not fit enough to fight for the title

During the incident between Masvidal and Covington last year in Miami, a lawsuit has been ongoing.  Masvidal is now giving a little more insight into the details of Covington’s claims, some of which he believes should rule him out from a title shot.

“I currently got three felonies because this bi-ch Colby says I gave him a brain injury,” he said in a pre-fight presser. “So how the f–k is he going to fight for any title is what I want to know. The UFC is gonna get sued if that guy goes in there and something like that happens right? Because supposedly, allegedly, as I didn’t do sh-t, he says I gave him a brain injury. I didn’t do sh-t though.”

He thinks that Covington claiming brain trauma due to their incident should rule him out from any title shot that the UFC is sending his way. This of course would free up the opportunity for “Gamebred” to face Leon Edwards with a win over Burns. This is exactly what he’s been campaigning for and if his accusations are true would set him up exactly where he wants to be. Edwards has also stated that he would prefer to fight Masvidal as well.
