Mark Zuckerberg is downplaying the idea that the rumored cage match with Elon Musk is close to happening.
Following Elon Musk’s confident assertions that the showdown with Mark Zuckerberg is a done deal, the head honcho of Meta decided it was time to challenge Musk’s claims. Using his Threads app, he basically called out Musk, suggesting he might be stretching the truth, and even threw a bit of playful taunting for not setting a solid date for their face-off. Musk declared on a Friday morning that both his and Zuckerberg’s foundations would be in charge of promoting this rumored brawl, supposedly set to go down in the iconic Rome Colosseum. Musk also made it crystal clear that he wants nothing to do with Dana White or the UFC, which triggered Zuckerberg’s response. Interestingly, it seems Zuck is actually keen on having Dana White involved, creating a tussle over the nitty-gritty of the fight’s specifics.

Mark Zuckerberg isn’t buying Elon Musk’s Claims
Zuckerberg took to his Threads app to share his perspective on the matter, and he even threw in a snapshot from his Friday training session in his backyard octagon.
“I love this sport and I’ve been ready to fight since the day Elon challenged me. If he ever agrees on an actual date, you’ll hear it from me. Until then, please assume anything he says has not been agreed on. Not holding my breath for Elon, but I’ll share details on my next fight when I’m ready. When I compete, I want to do it in a way that puts a spotlight on the elite athletes at the top of the game. You do that by working with professional orgs like the UFC or ONE to pull this off well and create a great card.”

Given the way Zuckerberg penned this, it’s pretty clear he’s not exactly taking every word Elon Musk is throwing out there at face value—he’s basically giving Musk a playful nudge. It also makes you wonder if there’s a bit of tension between Musk and Dana White, given Musk’s desire to keep him out of the picture. Initially, folks thought Zuckerberg was on board with Musk’s game plan, but that’s definitely not the case. The way things are right now, it seems like Mark has been all set to rumble, while Musk seems to be taking a more roundabout approach with his tweets. As of now, there hasn’t been any response from the Tesla bigwig to Zuckerberg’s remarks, but it wouldn’t be too surprising if Musk dishes out a witty comeback.
