It seems like every few weeks we are claiming to see the ‘nastiest’ something we’ve ever seen. Maybe sometimes that’s true but more than likely our short term memory has just been depleted from hanging out in the 209 so much. This time though we simply really did witness some of the nastiest elbows we’ve ever seen. Granted elbows are almost always nasty. Remember those nasty but illegal elbows we saw a young Jon Jones use on Matt Hammils skull a few years back? I bet your sitting there cringing just thinking about the blood gushing from Hammil’s eyes from those elbows.
Those were undoubtably nasty elbows. Tonight Ricardo lamas delivered elbows to Erik Koch’s orbital sockets that might have been equally as nasty. The two fighters traded kicks and punches throughout the first round. Both looking strong, Lamas got the lone takedown of that round but Koch quickly muscled his way back to his feet. At about 2 minutes into the second round though Lamas was able to drop Koch again and he went in with elbows that looked like Lamas was creating a new eye socket on Koch’s forehead as the blood just spewed everywhere. Koch was unable to defend and the fight was stopped at 2:22.
