"Rocky" doesn't think "Chaos" should be respected like a man.

After defending his welterweight title at UFC 296, Leon Edwards continued to put Colby Covington in his place and blasted “Chaos” in his post-fight presser. For “Rocky,” Covington was no longer deserving of his respect when “Chaos” went overboard and dragged his late father into their drama.

Colby has always been a coward

According to Edwards, Covington’s rude comments about his dad certainly made the fight emotional, if not the most emotional. Nevertheless, “Rocky” is glad to have gotten over it and still perform at a high level against a “coward” like Covington.

“He’s a coward and he’s always been a coward. Even when he lost the fight, he keep making excuses that I won,” Edwards said. “… I feel like it was definitely one of the most emotional fights I had to deal with as far as like the comments that he made but like I said, I got a great support system around me and the definitely got me in the right space to go out there and compete as an athlete.”

Edwards further hit out at “Chaos” and said that he might reach out to Sean Strickland for defending him against Covington at the press conference. For context, “Tarzan” lashed out at Covington after he made his foul remarks about Edwards’s dad.

“I might message him [Strickland] after this and say I like fair play to what he said you know and even though he acts like a mad guy but clearly, he’s got heart you know, he’s a man and Colby ain’t a man,” the champ said.

Leon wants everybody to respect the order

As for his next challenger, Edwards reiterated that Belal Muhammad has not earned it yet. On the other hand, Stephen Thompson seemed too old already. For “Rocky,” every aspiring title contender should respect the line and not follow in the footsteps of Covington, who clearly leapfrogged everybody.

“Definitely [there are] other options,” Edwards said of his next challenger. “I don’t feel like Belal should be next. I’ve done that before, I’ve won like 10 fights in the row so what makes him different or more privileged. Colby’s already skipped the line already so let’s see who’s next and but like I said this is Rocky era. This is my era now. Whoever is next doesn’t matter.”

“[Chimaev] looked alright you know I think Wonderboy is kind of getting past it a little bit he’s like 41, 40 years old and obviously went out there did what he did but yeah whoever is next, I don’t care you know. My aim now is to beat Georges [St-Pierre’s] record. That is my aim,” he concluded.

Edwards now has two successful title defenses to his name. He would have to defend it eight more times to surpass Georges St-Pierre who has an all-time record of nine successful title fight defenses. As for Covington, he now has his eyes locked on “Wonderboy.”
