- Kung Fu master Ma Baoguo trended online after getting knocked out by an MMA fighter in 2020
- Baoguo had an excuse for his terrible loss
Out to prove that his Kung Fu skills can be used in a real fight, Tai Chi and Kung Fu master Ma Baoguo agreed to take on amateur MMA fighter Wang Qing Min in 2020. Contrary to what he imagined it to be, Baoguo was easily knocked out in just a matter of 30 seconds.
The Kung Fu master has an excuse
As expected, Baoguo became a laughingstock in the world of combat sports as his terrible KO loss to Wang went viral for a time. In an interview shortly after his defeat, the then-69-year-old Kung Fu master was quizzed to reveal what went down during the fight.
To everyone’s surprise, Baoguo insisted that Wang was no better fighter than him. Instead, he just can’t focus enough on the fight and was also “poisoned” by someone before the fight.
“I was very annoyed. I should have won,” Baoguo said in Chinese via Fight Commentary Breakdowns. “Why was it I had no strength, hands couldn’t move? Why was his super slow left hook able to hit me? How? I couldn’t figure it out. There must have been foul play.”
“Someone must have touched me and put some ether on me,” he added. “My hands were slow because somebody poisoned me. Somebody did something to me. I don’t have proof, so I can’t just say this publicly, so I’ve only told friends,” Mao said on camera, in a public interview.”
A new lease on life
Six months after his KO loss went viral, Baoguo decided to retire. However, Shandong Yanwutang Film and Television Media Company announced that Baoguo had agreed to play the role of an aged kung fu master in the film “Young Kung Fu King” just two days after his retirement.
Now aged 71, it is safe to say that Baoguo should stick with doing Kung Fu in movies and never participate in a real fight again ever.
