- Two MMA fighters suffered a nasty cut on the head at KSW 84 in Poland
- The incidents were labeled by some as the worst cuts in MMA history
It’s not every day that an MMA fight ends because of a nasty cut, let alone two fights on the same card. That’s what took place at KSW 84 in Poland this weekend as two fighters from the card suffered arguably the worst cuts in MMA history.
Blood squirting from the Head
Bantamweights Gustavo Oliveira and Bruno Dos Santos arrived at the Gdynia Arena in Gdynia, Poland to take on each other inside the cage. Both fighters fought their hearts out throughout the first two rounds but things took an ugly turn in the third and final round.
Oliveira pulled off a vicious spinning back elbow that landed on the right side of Dos Santos’ head. The shot floored Dos Santos and Oliveira began to capitalize on the situation. The referee in charge wasn’t able to fully see the damage on Dos Santos’ head until the pair ended up in a guard position. Upon seeing blood literally squirting from Dos Santos’ head, the referee immediately stopped the time and called the cageside physician to have the Brazilian checked.
As expected, the physician decided to stop the fight and the referee obliged, declaring Oliveira the winner via doctor’s stoppage.

And another One
After several bouts, another fighter suffered a nasty cut in the event. Bartosz Lesko and Nemanja Nikolic faced each other for a middleweight showdown and both of them started out aggressively in the opening round. However, Lesko eventually landed a stunning knee towards the end of the first round which also resulted in a gruesome cut on Nikolic’s head.
Lesko then worked his way to a rear-naked choke submission and finished Nikolic with less than 20 seconds before the end of the opening round.

Due to the severity of the cuts, some MMA media outlets consider both incidents as the worst in the history of the sport.
