Khamzat Chimaev is looking gigantic in the latest update.

Top-ranked welterweight contender Chimaev is coming off a dominant win over Kevin Holland in Sep. at UFC 279. He was originally scheduled to face fan favorite Nate Diaz in the main event but needed to change opponents after coming in overweight. He put in another sensational performance to earn a first-round finish of Holland without absorbing a single significant strike, a feat he accomplished for the fourth time under the UFC banner.

Following the weight miss, there was speculation about whether ‘Borz’ would be able to compete at 170 pounds. There were talks of a potential move up to the middleweight division, something company president Dana White agreed with but the head honcho is willing to give the rising prospect another chance.

In recent posts made on his Instagram, Khamzat Chimaev looked massive while pumping iron at the gym.

Chimaev called out Alex Pereira for a fight in January

Earlier this month, Alex Pereira defeated former middleweight champion Israel Adesanya in a thrilling clash at UFC 281. Adesanya rocked Pereira early and got the better of him while grappling on the ground. He appeared to be on his way to a decision win when ‘Poatan’ unleashed a barrage of punches to win by a standing TKO.

Following Pereira’s crowning moment as the new 185-pound king, Khamzat Chimaev issued a call out for the master striker to defend his title on the promotion’s return to his homeland of Brazil for UFC 283 on Jan 21.

“Ready to fight in Brazil @AlexPereiraUFC let’s go champ.”

Chimaev has been linked to a likely top contender bout with former interim welterweight champion Colby Covington for the next UK pay-per-view card in March. While an announcement has not been made, both Chimaev and White confirmed it’s the direction they want to go towards.
