  • “Borz” will face Robert Whittaker at UFC 308, while Rockhold had just competed at the CJI last month

Khamzat Chimaev showcased his elite grappling skills by beating former UFC middleweight champion Luke Rockhold in an intense match.

‘Borz’ owned the former champ

Chimaev and Rockhold engaged in a grappling match during a training session for “Hardcore Fighting Reality Show,” a Russian spin-off of the famed The Ultimate Fighter. Both UFC fighters did not take it easy on one another as it became apparent that neither of them would embarrass himself in front of everybody in the gym.

The pair had several exchanges as both world-class grapplers tried to gain advantage. However, it was “Borz” who ended up dominating Rockhold towards the end.

Chimaev’s dominance isn’t just about what he does in the gym. He’s still unbeaten in his UFC career, having completely overpowered five of his seven opponents. However, when Gilbert Burns and Kamaru Usman managed to weather the early storm and push the fight further, “Borz” showed a more human side of himself.

Khamzat will return at UFC 308, Luke is coming off a grappling tournament loss

As it stands, Chimaev is already gearing up for his upcoming fight with Robert Whittaker at UFC 308. This will mark “Borz’s” UFC return after not being booked for a fight since October last year. UFC 308 will take place on Oct. 26th at the Etihad Arena in Abu Dhabi.

On the other hand, Rockhold had just competed at the Craig Jones Invitational that took place last month at the Thomas & Mack Center in Las Vegas, Nevada. Rockhold was eliminated by Pat Downey and reportedly suffered a back injury in the process. With that in mind, it could have been a factor why he lost to Chimaev in their grappling showdown.
